Kate Nash is Not Your Conventional Girl

Last week I picked up a couple tickets to see Kate Nash play at the Bowery Ballroom in March so that has inspired this post.

I first discovered Kate back in 2007 thanks to Lily Allen and immediately fell in love with her music, which I guess was kind of alt-pop and completely up my alley. Her debut album ‘Made of Bricks’ helped me through some hard times and will hold a special place in my life. I admire the turn she took with her second album ‘My Best Friend is You’ getting a bit harder with some of the tunes and reveling in her riot grrrl influences (which was something I could completely relate to). I’m looking forward to seeing what she has done on her upcoming album, as her look continues to change I’m sure the music will as well. As long as Kate doesn’t loose her pop sensibility I’ll always be in!

The new album ‘Girl Talk’ which has been funded via pledge music – you can still pledge to pre-order the album and to get other goodies, is out on March 4 (5th in the US) on Kate’s own label Have 10p Records. Kate has been busy the past few months and also put out an EP the end of 2012 entitled ‘Death Proof’ which you can get online at itunes now.

Check her out on her upcoming tour if you can, she seems to be playing much smaller venues than her last US tour which makes me happy.
